Finding the Way in…
WORCESTER
…the faithful city
Known throughout the world for its fine china as well as its famous
sauce, Worcester is surely one of the
most beautiful cities in England.
Steeped in history and with many
splendid medieval buildings, the
modern city of today successfully
blends past and present for the
benefit of residents and visitors
alike.
Yet in addition to all that Worcester
has to offer, there is an even greater
experience to be found here today…
so long as we’re willing to look in
the right direction…
The way to.. SECURITY

Worcester’s 14th
century Edgar Tower
is a wonderful symbol
of a strength and
security. A reminder
perhaps that we
all need a sure
foundation on which
to build our lives.
Over the years many
have found a security
beyond all other
through entering a
personal relationship
with Almighty God…
The LORD is my rock
my fortress and my
deliverer…in whom I take refuge
Psalm 18:2
Yet, to know the peace of God amidst all the pressures
of daily living we must first find peace WITH God
His Son, the LORD Jesus Christ points us in the right
direction…
I am the way and the truth and the life. No-one comes to
the Father except through me
John 14:6
Of course, this is only part of the story…
The way to..HOPE
The river Severn separates England from Wales…and
also one area of Worcester,St John’s,from the rest
of the city. During severe flooding in recent times,
St John’s has been completely cut off… a graphic
illustration of our relationship to our Creator…
...your iniquities
(sins) have
seperated you
from your God...
Isaiah 59:2
Even the best of
us fail to live up to
the standard He
sets...
...for all have
sinned and fallen short of the glory of God...
Romans 3:23
… and with consequences as serious as they come...
...man is destined to die once, and after that to face
judgement...
Hebrews 9:27
Thankfully, God has made a 'way of escape' for us in Worcester today...
The way to ..PEACE....
Worcester’s ‘old’ bridge links two parts of the city. Yet
in an altogether more wonderful way God has formed
a ‘bridge’ between Himself and us. In giving His life on
the wooden Cross of Calvary, Christ Jesus, God in the
form of man, took the punishment that our wrong-
doing deserves…
For Christ died for sins once for all, the
righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you
to God.
1 Peter 3:18
However, the ‘benefits’ of this are not
thrust upon us automatically. We
must be ready to recognise and turn
away from all we know to be wrong…
…if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation;
the old has gone, the new has come!
2 Corinthians 5:17
The Way to.. LOYALTY
Worcester has been known as
The ‘Faithful City’ since the time
of the Civil War due to the way its
people remained faithful to the King
throughout this period.
Built in 1577
King Charles
House in New
Street is where
he sought
refuge before
later escaping
Parliamentary
soldiers.
We may not
face such
threats today,
yet the Lord
Jesus Christ
asks for
complete
loyalty and
faithfulness from all who would be
His true followers…
If anyone would come after me, he
must deny himself and take up his
cross daily and follow me.
Luke 9:23
The Way to.. LIFE
Dominating the city is of course the
magnificent Worcester Cathedral.
Impressive as this is however, the central
feature of Christianity is neither its
buildings nor traditions…it’s the Person
of the Lord Jesus Christ. In the midst of
an unhappy and uncertain world He is
the source of true fulfilment…
…I have come that they may have life,
and have it to the full.
John 10:10
…and the only way to everlasting life…
For God so loved the world, that He gave
His one and only Son, that whoever
believes in him shall not perish but have
eternal life
John 3:16
Yet how easy it is for us to ignore or
reject Him…the consequences of which
are surely unthinkable…
Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever
does not believe stands condemned already because he
has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son
John 3:18
This is how to find the Way in Worcester
however, the next step is yours!
